The Sunset Key Guest Cottages at the Hilton Key West Resort opened in 1997 and have become
a very popular place to stay while vacationing in the Florida Keys. Situated on a private
tropical island approximately 500 yards offshore, the Sunset Key Guest Cottages offer
guests a unique vacationing experience. The Hilton Key West Resort & Marina and the Sunset
Cottages are the city's only Triple Diamond and 4A rated hotels. It is easy for
vacationers to forget that civilization is right around the corner. The
quaint cottages are surrounded by startlingly white sand and gently swaying palm trees.
Although you may feel civilization is far away, no need to fear, vacationers can in 10
minutes flat, be among all of the excitement and merriment that makes Key West one of the
most unique cities in the United States. A shuttle launch runs between Sunset Key and Key
West every half hour from 8:30 am to 2:00 am, transporting vacationers over to Key West
and docking at the Hilton Marina. After 2:00 am, the shuttles run back and forth as
needed.
Southernmost City
Once vacationers have reached the Hilton Marina all that Key West has to offer is only
steps away. Vacationers may rent bikes or mopeds and explore the island on their own;
there are many hidden gems around Key West. Literature lovers should make it a point to
visit Hemingway House. The beautiful six toed cats that kept the author
company in his time still have offspring running around. These unusual felines can be seen
soaking up the Florida sun, stretched across the porch. The heart of Key West definitely
beats from Duval Street. Duval is lined with restaurants, bars, galleries and specialty
shops. It is guaranteed that at some point in the day you?ll be able to hear Key West?s
anthem, Margaritaville, wafting from a bar. At the end of the day, the best show on the
island is at the Hilton Sunset Pier. The main and most magnificent attraction is of course
the sun sinking into the cobalt blue waters of the Gulf of Mexico. The added bonus is the
wildly entertaining shows put on by local street performers. The Cat Man is almost always
the crowd favorite. It is hard to imagine how he convinces his cats to jump through hoops
of fire and walk across tightropes.
Tropical State of Mind
The Sunset Key Guest Cottages boast 37 individual cottages. The beautiful accommodations
will put anyone in a Caribbean state of mind. Vacationers may choose between
one, two and three bedroom cottages. The three bed room cottages are two stories high,
lending an air of Swiss Family Robbins. All cottages feature either Gardenviews, Partial
Oceanviews or Beachfrontview. The Beachfront cottages are by far the most lovely as they
offer breathtaking views of the crystal blue waters surrounding the island. Those with a
view of the lush tropical gardens also have a view of the pool. The verandas are an ideal
place to enjoy a meal or a frozen concoction at the end of a day spent in the sun. All
cottages have a kitchen and living area, no matter how many bedrooms there are. The staff
at the Sunset Key Guest Cottages pride themselves on providing vacationers with
top-of-the-line in rooms amenities. All accommodations have a remote controlled color
cable television, VCR, CD player and stereo system. To ensure maximum comfort levels, all
cottages have their own individual climate controls in addition to ceiling fans. The
kitchen is equipped with all of the necessary gear to prepare a delicious meal or a light
snack. Other in-room amenities include iron, ironing board, plush bathrobes, a cordless
phone, direct dial phone, voice mail, clock radio, data port, hairdryer and mini-safe.
Soak up some Sun
The in-room services rival any of those at even the best New York hotel. Breakfast is
delivered to the cottage each morning. For other meals, vacationers may opt to have them
prepared in their cottage by a personal chef. The resort also has a book, music and game
library. Workout buffs will also have full use of the fitness facility. Other services
include concierge, massage therapy, wake-up, baby-sitting, free newspaper, express
check-out, valet, laundry, maid, turn-down and grocery. While staying at the Sunset Key
Guest Cottages, vacationers need not worry about a thing as the highly professional staff
will strive to meet each and every need. Handicap accessible and non-smoking rooms are
available upon request.
Location
You haven?t experienced Key West until you?ve taken advantage of the beautiful water that
surrounds the island and all of the different activities offered. The concierge staff will
be more than happy to arrange water excursions such as deep-sea fishing, water skiing,
snorkeling, water skiing, scuba diving, wave running, sailing, glass bottom boat rides,
sunset sails and parasailing. For those who prefer to just lay back, relax and soak up
some sun on the beach, Sunset Key is perfect. Beach attendants will see to your every need
to ensure that you are as comfortable and relaxed as possible. Guests may also wish to
catch some rays by the Tropical free-form garden pool. The tranquil surroundings will lull
sunbathers into an almost dreamlike state. The resort also has two whirlpools. Tennis
enthusiasts will be pleased to discover that the resort has two tennis courts. A superb
golf course is only minutes away. Guests can enjoy a Caribbean inspired meal at Latitudes
Beach Caf? overlooking the Gulf of Mexico. Sunbathers can cool off with a tropical
beverage at Flippers Pool Bar.
The Sunset Key Guest Cottages are located approximately 500 yards off of the coast of Key
West on Sunset Key.
